A Vegan Walks into a Cracker Barrel ...?

Har har. Seriously though ... tomorrow night is my boyfriend's grandmother's birthday and everyone have decided to travel to Cracker Barrel. I'm not one to make top. But I've looked up some stuff on the internet and it doesn't look like I'm going to enjoy much luck on the menu tomorrow night. Can anyone individually recommend something that might not be on the menu, or isn't on their online menu at least? I would really appreciate some input. This is my first time as a lacto-vegetarian going to a restaurant like Cracker Barrel that doesn't own any obvious lacto-vegetarian selections.

Thanks contained by advance! :)

I'm sorry. I go there lots, many years ago... I ate side dishes. I don't remember which ones, but I do remember not seeing that *fine print* you saw.
:(

The piece I hate most going on for going to American restaurants (meat &potatoes) is that everyone gets to look at the poor, suffering little veg*an. When they see us looking at the miserable little salad next to nothing on it, they see how *terrible* it must be to live in need meat.

I want to scream, "no, cart me to any ethnic resturaunt around and I will have tons of stuff to devour!"

Pretend you are sick. You can either be sick and not dance, or only instruct a plate of lettuce and a glass of hose down because of your tummy ache. Actually, you may want to sort in "woman issues;" if you speak you're sick, they may think you are undersupplied in protein.
:)

Good luck. Sorry you own to go to lame Cracker Barrel
I really quality for you! Step into the Gift Shop and buy yourself some candy!

Ask the waitress if they have a totally lacto-vegetarian entre. They might! Ask about pancakes.
i used to work at one. the hashbrown cassarole is great, s is the man n cheese u can instruct brekfast all afternoon at most of them so u could try that as wee they have a veggie plate too and you could als writ a salad the squash is excellent there too the veggie plate comes w ur choice of any 5 side items range from corn to fries they have a great deal to choose from
wow are you screwed...just watch out ordering vegetables even because i be just within the other day and tons of their vegetables are prepared with meat stock. conceivably just a salad? accurate luck
Uhm,Good luck!Maybe you can get a soda and get through the ice?I go to a mexican restaurant not too long ago and their menu only have FOUR items.Four items?I got stuck next to a soda and ate the ice.Not everyone within my extended family know I'm vegan and they though I be starving myself.I go to a steakhouse before too and they put butter on my plain baked potato and my vegetables be served in a cup that have butter in the bottom.I get really upset, you know, because how hard can it be to not put butter on a baked potato? And my steamed veggies be served in butter.Yeah,so I didn't put away that night. When someone messes up something really simple(like a salad, baked potato) and make it unvegan it just get on my nerves and ruins my appetite.

On wiki it said they have an egg replacement that might be okay for vegetarian.
Aww.. That , I will say terribly was one of my fave places past I was veg...haven't be there since. Im pretty possitive they own fresh fruit...and maybe in attendance cinnamon apples? Im sure they can help you out! Good Luck !
You're scr*wed to put it politely! Don't even THINK going on for mentioning that your vegan in attendance. Just make up an excuse for one and only ordering a cup of water! It might in actuality be safer to not even do that<g>. Cracker Barrel is one of 'those' places that is infamous for "teaching those damn hippies a lesson".

GOOD LUCK (You'll inevitability it<sigh>)!
eat ahead of time and only just drink tea - unless their tea is made the old fashioned opening...mmmm pork lard tea.

seriously I own been surrounded by these situations with work motive there are lots of client outings to places beside no real food...I drink seriously of tea...and eat beforehand or after.
I never had a problem purely ordering a diet coke and consumption later, depsite the grumbling from everyone else. Cheaper on the wallet too. I'm used to complaints and worries over my consumption habits though, as I've other been incredibly picky. So plentiful traumatizing food experiences will do that to you.
I think you're stuck consumption ahead of time and ordering a nice green salad next to oil and vinegar or a lemon block. Exciting, I know. Just make it clear you don't want the cheese, bacon bits, egg, croutons, or who know what else they put in their salads. Tell them you enjoy allergies if necessary. And I wouldn't trust any of their dressings, even if they hold a vinaigrette. I just found out the balsamic vinaigrette at Sweet Tomatoes isn't even lacto-vegetarian. They might have a fruit salad as in good health. You can also try calling the restaurant and asking about any option they might not advertise. Bon appetit! ;-)
Oh i quality so sorry I can understand ur dilemma as I've gone thru something much horrible after this.I'm allergic to eggs and it's such an impossible thing to find things which r not even touched by the chefs near good wash hands....
Newayz wat u can do is get through something filling u up past u leave home that year and keep some space so that u can writ a fruit salad or a veg. Salad.Or u can simply ask then if they own anything in veggies but be clear that u don't requirement meat stock used in it. Else do directly for some fruit salad next to a great dessert. Hope this helps...desire u have a moral time :) take assistance.
Tossed salad seems to be lacto-vegetarian... with perchance french fries or onion rings if you eat those..

Yeah its going to suck, I'm a lacto-vegetarian and i went nearby... it was awful. Stay away from the vegetable plate, adjectives there vegetables hold like a sugar sauce... its disgusting.

Well righteous luck! sorry about this misfortune
I do Vegan & usual do Raw so I apprehend your needs. They hold salads, just instruct them with Veggies single, no cheese, eggs etc. Vinegar & Oil on the side, They make super baked potatoes(huge) command without butter, cheese etc. Olive grease is good on them if they own nothing else you can use.
None of the cooked veggies are animal butter free, they contain butter or bacon etc. They are premade so there is no order them without the "southern style" seasonings. Muffins will be made next to eggs, not sure about the biscuits they may be protected. I know when I could eat them they be very honourable.
Even though it is not a Vegan friendly Menu I go to them alot when I travel, usually they are verbs, decent food, & out of danger for a woman traveling alone.
Consider eating something in the past you go, afterwards the limited choices will not be so tricky to deal next to.
This is "Grandmother's Day & not really about your consumption. Play it low key, enjoy a sense of humor, be kind.
I speak from expreience. Today I go to a Tea-Reception for a artist friend, except some strawberries(garnish) there be nothing for me to munch through. I ate a Larabar on the way over.
lots of luck
I go there a few months ago near my aunts
and mother. The onion rings are cooked in
a vegetable grease and they taste really righteous.
The carrots come next to a brown sugar glaze.
So it will depend on how strict you are around
the type of sugar you accept. The so call
green salad is made out of lettuce. If you're
used to having actual greens within a salad
like I am you may find that insufficient.
There is a salad dressing available made
out of olive grease and vinegar. They won't
change around any of the vegetables
that contain meat flavoring despite their
fine print on the menu suggesting that they
will. This make most of the veggies unavailable.

You can also lay down orange liquid.
If I'm not mistaken you can order
a baked potato beside nothing on it.
You conceivably able to procure some olive
oil on the side.

Good luck, it's a shocking place to
eat for a lacto-vegetarian.
