I get so feed up with folks claiming to be idealogically sound because they are not racist, sexist etc. but know they are speciesist because they chomp through animal flesh but are just not committed satisfactory to give it up.

We're not naturally racist or sexist, it's a learn behaviour.
Because we are in the alimentary fasten (the circle of life) so we eat animals only like they put away each other to survive not by pleasure. Racism and Sexism is an inexcusable lifestyle problem.
I agree next to the first answer. I've been lacto-vegetarian for 13 years but i appreciate a humans desire to eat meat. I do not however, appreciate how we as a species can be racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist etc etc as to be precise just a flaw contained by peoples morals and upbringing. there is a food cuff and the human race is at the top. It be not I believe natures intention to brand name people not learned, that's societies fault.

I disagree beside some who have posted here; I DO regard that humans have the evolutionary predilection to be xenophobic, which can manifest itself within racism and/or homophobia. Why are people speciest? Because human culture still reinforces it and because culture still have a complex time realizing the similarities between their own rights and wishes and the rights and needs of animals. Just approaching racism went unquestioned for a exceedingly long time, speciesism continues (by some) unquestioned today.
What can we do? Work hard to lift awareness and reverse the trend! consider veganism!
The difference is relatives aren't inherrantly different because of their race within any significant way. Women are at lowest as good as men within most areas of life. To disciminate against them on that cause would be unfair.
Can you really claim alike about animals? It's not unwarranted discrimination IMHO. OK, so you may not close to what we do to them (but that's a different issue) but I don't think you can argue against us treating them differently/worse.
Many white people rebuke racism as they don't think it applies to them. Similary lots men ignore sexism as they meditate there is nil for them to gain through gender equality. For impossible to tell apart reasons, lots of humans don't tender a toss about other species. If you don't perceive yourself as a potential target, why both. Overall, speciesism, sexism, racism, and all the other 'isms' and phobias amount to impossible to tell apart thing, a denial of compassion or empathy for any living thing dissimilar to yourself.
