Is animal rennet still used within North America?

What about pizza cheese - does it contain animal or microbial rennent?

Answer:
Most of the higher-end artisanal cheeses use rennet.

Bulk and inexpensive chesses use chemical coagulants.

Best wishes!
Yes. Most cheese processes use rennet. And most cheese is from animal milk.... unless it is soy 'cheez'.
Yes at hand are many creameries that still use animal rennet contained by the US. Most are the smaller artisinl cheese makers but I'm sure within are some larger company's that use it too.
Most cheese still contain animal base "enzymes" or "rennent". Online research will tell you which cheeses are truly lacto-vegetarian.
It depends on the brand. Many companies are turning to vegetable rennet at the moment.
Animal rennet,I also notice many times it is down as enzymes now instead of rennet.
