Are the doublemints and Big Reds available in the U.S. vegeterian or does it use animal byproducts.
Answer:
As far as I can report (getting the ingredients off of the Wrigley's website and looking them up on Wikipedia), the gums you mention may not be lacto-vegetarian, or even vegetarian. "Gum base", one of the scheduled ingredients, may or may not contain animal-derived ingredients such as lanolin (non-vegan) or stearic acid (non-vegetarian).
From the Vegetarian Resource Group:
" Most chewing gums innocuously schedule "gum base" as one of their ingredients, masking the reality that petroleum, lanolin, glycerin, polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate, petroleum wax, stearic acid, and latex (a possible allergen) may be among the components.
Because of standards of identity for items such as gum floor and flavoring, manufacturers are not required to inventory everything in their product.
According to Dertoline, a French chemical capitalist, their adhesive "dercolytes" are used as a sign and tape sticky stuff, as well as a chewing gum stub.
Many brands also list glycerin and glycerol as ingredients on the sign.
Both of them can be animal derived."
No animal byproducts. It's chewing gum for crying noticeably. I could see maybe if it be beef flavored or something like that but almost adjectives chewing gum is made out of gum and sugar.
