I really feel as though I should be a lacto-vegetarian, because I love animals and I hate that they own died to feed me. I'm worried something like the transition though. What should I eat instead of meat? Lot of beans, tofu, etc? Where can I find some concept on the net? Thanks!

capably i eat meat i do love love animals too but i never rly would get through all the stuff similar to that u no most people do it 4 a diet but if u rly abhorrence meat and love animal try to cut down less meal od meat then gross it lower and lower till u dont eat it that i have an idea that would work but it is ur chose i hope u pick good i do love animals too. :p
I actually established to be a vegetarian because I required to be healthier, not because I thought that if I stopped intake meat I would SAVE THE ANIMALS. I also think it forced me to try modern foods and experience major culture shock- as at hand are many more lacto-vegetarian options contained by ethnic resteraunts. I still eat fish- because its a leaner meat. As long as you drink a balanced, colorful diet you will remain healthy- of late don't replace meat with bread or loads of sugar. Beans are okay once within a while. Good luck.

She was at a potluck and seem to find something to eat... so I thought I will privately try it and keep my mouth shut until I am sure it will work for me. So I go to my college cafeteria and found tons of delicious option to eat. After a week or two I be sure I would be able to do it and made the big announcement to my relations and friends. I had thought more or less being a lacto-vegetarian but that was too far for me so I still guzzle fish, eggs (free range) and milk And I love it! This all happen back within 1994 and I'm never turning back. I wonder how masses lives I have save....
When within all the recall of meat and processed foods containing meat because they wer contminated. Also, Don't like the thought that antibiotics are fed to beef cattle and chicken. If I want antibiotics I can them from my doctor if I stipulation them. Then there be the scares(and deaths) from salmonella, ecoli and listeria. I gave up meat contained by 1997 and haven' missed at all, I lost mass, my cholesterol dropped and I have much more zest. I eat homemade vegetable and lentil soups, oatmeal next to fruits in it, Whole pellet bread that contains no high fructose corn syrup. Boca gurgers, homemade chow mein beside tofu in it, freh fruit and veggies, 2% milk and eggs and turkey. Nothing fried and no porcessed food. I get the impression great. As a side effect my dermatologist says I hold the skin of a 50 yr. old ....... I am 71 yrs.hoary. Being a vegetarian hasn' better my typing, though. Excuse typos.
Your body will largely tell you what to get through. Just listen to it. :-)

I prefer to guzzle buffalo as they are kinder to the earth.
Anyway, so, I mostly munch through just vegetables, cheese, beans, legumes, fruits, and grain (whole grains, because processed grain are not healthy).
Certain cultures are largely based around lacto-vegetarian eating. Indian food is mostly lacto-vegetarian because Hindu people do not devour meat. You can find many vegetable, bean, and rice dishes nearby. Similarly, lots of Japanese food is vegetarian... you can own vegetarian sushi, lots of dishes next to miso, tofu, rice, noodles, soy products, and seaweed.
There are also many middle eastern dishes approaching fallafel, cous cous, hummus, and knish that are vegetarian. Greek and Italian dishes as resourcefully largely use beans, vegetables, olives, breads, potatos, and pastas.
Caribean and Mexican food too, rice and beans (make sure it's not made with lard), platanos (fried plantains), tortillas beside black beans, salsa, cheese or bean quesedillas, corn-encrusted tamale....
So there's a rich variety of foods to devour, you don't have to one and only eat tofu and beans... look towards these other cultures so that you're never bored, and so that you catch in adjectives the nutrition that you need.

well i use to enjoy really bad stomach pains and i have to get rid of them lacking the use of meds. So i was trying to find out what really be causing them. So i decied to cut out meat( mind you i be in 6th grade) and i also needed some info and i run across websites and books. I gradually cut meat out by first not ingestion beef, then turkey afterwards chicken. that made it easier for me and i have not eat meat in years!
I decided to become a vegitarian when I be 19 now 24. I dated a "hippie" and loved it . That be the best decision I own ever made. You can eat what you want merely substitue with the right things. PETA.com is a great trellis site to use to help. GOOD LUCK!

My mom and my sister and I (we were teenagers) be not eating a unbroken lot of meat anyway because my mom was on a tight budget. She's a exceptionally health-conscious person and we ate in good health even though we were drinking cheap. Then I read a book with ten essays on highest reasons for becoming lacto-vegetarian (ethical, ecological, monetary, animal welfare and health-related reasons) and just granted it was the right article to do. My sister followed suit and my mom had no problem near it. The "transition" was really uncomplicated for us I guess, because we really had be going through it for a couple of years by not eating much meat... at any rate, I never saw it as a transition. Just a choice I made and never regretted.
You're on the right track as far as replacing meat protein. Beans and other legumes (like lentils and chickpeas,) soy products (not only tofu,) dairy and eggs unless you're going vegan, even complete grains and leafy greens enjoy protein. As long as you're eating a various and balanced diet, your body won't miss the meat. And there's nought wrong with the meat replacement products (like Boca burgers) if you find them nifty. After awhile you'll probably find that you don't "need" them to build meals so much as they're an graceful addition from time to time.
Here are tips:
1. Take your time - my journey from meat eater took around a year.
2. Start out using some basic substitutes for the meat you are used to surrounded by foods where you won't even sense - ground meat replacements are available in the frozen food section.
3. Leave meat off things that don't involve it - pizza, salad, spag, etc.
4. Get some good cookbooks when you are in place to branch into more interesting foods - Moosewood books and New Farm Vegetarian are two of my favorites.
5. If you are worried about what to drink check out the book "Diet for a New America" it will cover many of the condition questions.
A righteous start is to pick one or two nights a week as "veggie" darkness. Then work your way from nearby stopping wherever you quality most comfortable which might be 2 nights a week or 7 night a week up to you.
I become a vegetarian when I academic that if America alone cut it's meat and grain consumption within half we could ending world hunger with the remaining particle.
i watch Meet Your Meat...seriously, only examine that if you really want to go veggie. 101 Reasons Why I'm a Vegetarian by Pamela Rice is worthy if you're not into the gross visuals, but i'd say it's equally successful.
some people (like me) quit cold turkey...my sister's a lacto-vegetarian, so i had adjectives the substitutes i could possibly want already in the freezer...
other those wean themselves off of it (and it really is an addiction, so it might give a hand to think of it close to that) over a longer period of time.
drink 2 tablespoon of flax seeds every time for your omega-3s! i think that's the biggest mistake vegetarians/vegans create.
