What made you prefer to become a Vegetarian/Vegan?

As a vegetarian myself I definitely know my own personal reasons for becoming one, I am a moment ago curious to know why other people made the choice to become a vegetarian/vegan.

Answers:
The more I imagine about it, the more I realize it really wasn't a choice. Not wanting to create other sentients beings pain & loss is innate. It is not just an stormy "choice," but a physiological reflex. It is enlightening to remember who we were - to remember our actual reaction and affection for the natural world in the past we felt the societal pressure to impress & be official by parents, friends - people.

I be raised by meat-eaters, but I other had a nagging fear that something was wrong near eating meat (as I believe most children enjoy when they are presented with meat that is to say not disguised as hot dogs, nuggets, etc.). Around age 3, earlier I knew of slaughterhouse horrors, I clearly remember my revulsion to seeing my mother fiddle with & prepare meat. My reaction is contained by the same capillary as the natural, visceral recoil for humans to be repelled by the smell of dead animals.

The majority hold been desensitized into seeing meat as "sanitary" wholesome packages of food instead of the unsanitary, disguised rotting flesh it really is. If more listen to their bodies, spoken through the epidemic of animal-derived food-borne illnesses, e.g., e-coli, lactose intolerance, salmonella, heart disease, etc., they'd see the light: humans be never meant to munch through animals & their products. Plus, our bodies were not designed to digest animals vs. colloquial carnivores, e.g., humans have long & complex digestive systems, do not enjoy natural resistance to microbes from raw flesh, etc.

Then near is that little thing call the conscience; we can understand that it is wrong to wreak pain & departure. While I do not believe humans have a monopoly on thinking & emotion, we do the have the offering of advanced linguistic capabilities, which enjoy enabled us to evolve from mostly reactionary survivalists to more contemplative empathizers - near the Bush administration excluded ;) Instead of succumbing to trepidation to destroy other creatures due to their supposed threats to our survival, we can take that the survival of our species does not depend on the death of other sentient beings, but on our own size to transcend fear and embrace peace. We can apprehend that humans have, can & will survive on the sound sources of nutrition from non-sentients, which are fed by the sun & sprouted from the planet. Of the sentients, most humans feel aching when they see others, including animals, in spasm. Most do not wish to inflict unncessary torture & death of those beings. How tons would still eat meat if they have to slit the throat of the animal him/herself? I know I wasn't born that way.
powerfully i became a lacto-vegetarian because i love animals and i really never have be that fond about meat...what pushed me to veganism would be "Fast Food Nation" (the worst movie ever) but really shrewd =]
I fell on my head.
Because factor farm and slaughter houses treat the animals like the are a piece of carp resembling they have no emotional state and they don't feel distress!
I am a vegeterian by birth because my parents never eat non veg stuff and as I go ahead I felt anyone veg is the best thing contained by the world. Let me share with you something like few of my friends:
1. He is 110kgs and wants to lose solidity, first thing doctor tell him stop drinks and non veg
2. Another uncle of mine is a heart patient and he have to leave it
The catalogue goes on as the days are progressing I hold found lot of people becoming veg because of form reasons.
Few religions surrounded by India dont allow yo to eat Non veg even to be precise one reason
Read the book skinny **...

you'll see why when you chomp through meat all your doing is hurting youself and hurting the animals..

lose/lose situation...
I'm not a veggie but my 17 year hoary daughter has be one for about 10 years.
She have always loved animals so I wasn't surprised when she asked me (as I be cooking lamb chops for dinner) if, when you ate lamb you were really ingestion a lamb. And, the same beside a chicken. Beef and pork are a little smaller amount obvious as they don't share their designation with the animal, but as soon as she found out she be eating an animal, she stopped consumption meat.
As she grew older and implied ingredients better, she stopped eating anything that contains, as she put it so succinctly, "late animal".
Im not a vegetarian or lacto-vegetarian. I was a lacto-vegetarian once and it almost killed me. I approved eating animals be better for me than starving to passing and being shabby and miserable. I think seriously of the vegetarians and vegans at the moment do it because it is a fad or cool. Some certainly do it for their own personal reasons. As long as they believe surrounded by what they are standing for, they are welcome to hold on to on keeping
I got a pony when I be 13 and when I realised what an amazing personality he have and the fact he ws much matching as cows, sheep etc I just couldnt hack consumption meat anymore - that was twenty years ago and I dont hold horses anymore but I dont think I could ever turn back to ingestion meat!
ur question.
resourcefully i became a lacto-vegetarian because i love animals and i really never have be that fond about meat...what pushed me to veganism would be "Fast Food Nation" its a movie and also this movie on youtube heres the knit i bet by the time your done watching you'll never even touch meat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pundifph... and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn-knogfe... and
Because factor farms and slaughter houses treat the animals approaching the are they have no vibrations and they don't feel throbbing! they all hold homes ,familys, life, and sensations so plz dont ever eat denote its a bad creation
Kentuckyfriedcruelty.com made me decide to become a lacto-vegetarian. The people that work contained by farm factory are disgusting human beings and YUM Industries needs to be shut down. My benefits are intrinsic. I enjoy NEVER felt better!
Watching a programme once fugitive up to Christmas, which showed the horrific journey rotten how the turkey's got the the dining table - vowed never to drink another animal again (1980)
I didn't like the impression of eating something that used to be alive.
I've other been adjectives about animal rights. After viewing a couple of vidoes on kentuckyfriedcruelty.com and PETA.com I granted that there be no way i could support such cruelty to animals. I have no idea it be that bad, and will never put away meat again.
I couldn't stand the idea that I'm intake animal corpse, animals are innocent helpless cute creatures, and those bastards people purely kill them because of their stupid desires (eating meat is zilch else but desire, they can shut up with that inhabitants need meat, that's not true!) and how they put to death? I have see some videos just about this, that was something a moment ago unbelievable, near no emotions at adjectives those butchers or whatever they are call just chop up that poor animal within pieces while it is still alive *feels sick*... >_< and when you're eating for example chicken, don't you touch sick seeing all those bones, sinews, skin and stuff pfff..I couldn't stand that. >_<
As a child, I be always grossed out by intake meat. I'd be the one at the dinner table asking,"What animal are we eating tonight?"
I be destined to become a vegetarian because ingestion meat/poultry/pork/seafood was other difficult for me. I was told that I would covering my dinner(that contained meat) under the sofa b/c I didn't want to chomp through it!
I don't agree with ingestion another living being that have parents. Humans were not made for meat consumption because our teeth and digestive systems be not created for it.
I could not help but chew over about the poor animal and how ruthlessly it be slaughtered(there is NO such thing as "humane slaughter"-THAT is an oxymoron within itself!!).
Another bonus to omiting meat from one's diet is it is much, much healthier.
Each soul who is living a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is saving approximately 95 animals from slaughter a time!
When you realize how many citizens are already living a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle and the many more that will become vegetarians/vegans, that's ALOT of animals lives self saved!
To be honest i dont mind the bloodbath of animals its the natural lay down of the food chain, ive never see anyone protesting outside a lions den because its just kill a zebra.

Even plants are alive.

The reason i turned vege be because i found out they feed mash up chickens to sheep and mashed up sheep to pigs and mash up animals to other animals which would never naturally drink that stuff.

They only stopped feed cows to cows after the mad cow incident but they still nurture other animals to other animals.
its not right.
I don't eat beef but I chomp through other meats! Beef is discouraging for you to !!
because animals are my life
i own a hamster, dog, fish and i would never let anything occur to them and i like cows, pigs, sheep why should i be a greedy sod and drink Innocent creatures?
I'm an animal lover and if i ate meat i would NOT have a right to hail as myself an animal lover!
im sooooo proud to be a veggie animals rule they have inner health and im not going to hurt them i like carrot YAAAAY
....ohhh and the reason I'm a lacto-vegetarian is because i have a heart and so do they!

After looking at this site the deeply thought of eating meat made me sick http://www.slaughterhousecam.com/...
PETA have alot to do with it and I would similar to to thank them. Also I have other had a enthusiasm for loving my animals.
I became a lacto-vegetarian in the seventh category when I found out how cruel factory farms be to animals. I just found it to be the most abominable entity I had ever hear, and wouldn't have be able to live beside myself if I contributed to that.

Veganism is so incredibly difficult to do, though I really would love to be one. I go through period where I am lacto-vegetarian, and then period where I'm not.I do use soymilk, chomp through "veggie slices" (fake cheese) and try my best to always get hold of sherbert when I go to an rime cream parlor. Perhaps when I have more time to devote to my diet, and don't enjoy to think so much going on for school work and such, I'll be capable of be a true vegan.
Love for animals originally. Now specifically reinforced by my religious beliefs and the fact that I believe an animal product free diet is in good health.
I went lacto-vegetarian over enviormental issuie's mainly, never care for red meat when i did eat meat, but the more I scholarly and thought about what they put into these animals, not to mention how they are treated, did'nt sit capably with me, indistinguishable can go for what they are doing to our crop staple's here surrounded by the U.S. with GMO's, I do'nt want that surrounded by my body...
At first I thought it could be a challange but then i really started getting into it so I newly stuck with it.
Then I saw the peta video and I never want to eat meat again.
At 14 ( 27 years ago ) i be invited to see a pig farm because the farmering community have an open year, they were completely proud of this animal husbandry.

I turned veggie instantly. If thats the best the industry has to extend, god help us adjectives and shame on anyone who eats meat and supports this cruelty, torture, bribe-feeding hormone forced growth and loss. The evidence is there for you adjectives to see.

I now own an arable sheep farm in the middle of the dairy and beef husbandry community and there is nought that would ever make me drink meat.

Imagine the worse it could be. right, now multiply it by 100.

Meateaters want to know what they are paying for, how they live with themselves i will never know.

We've get pet sheep, cows and chickens. They are full of character. Why are they any different to a pet dog or cat ?
About 20 years or so ago, I be watching my pet parakeets sing and frying chicken and I thought "I am like their mom, so they must imagine of me as some sort of cannibal for eating their relatives"...
My father used to enjoy a cattle farm where on earth he reared cows for the beef industry. I grew up working on this tend from a very childlike child so i got to know the ins and outs of the trade moderately well.
One of my job on the farm be to bottle feed the calves if their mother died surrounded by birth. This gave me a interesting scene point as i began to surface more like a parent to the animals.
Naturally this lead to vegetarianism as i could no longer eat meat because i could appreciate the morals of it at first foot.
I used to cry myself to sleep on a Sunday night because Monday be market time when i had to voice good bye to my friends the cows.
I become a veggie after a trip to a slaughter house 15 years ago. I saw what went on inside and witness a lorry nouns of pigs meet their termination. That was me veggie.
"briskly food nation" and "meet your meat" monitor these...
