I love kale- what do you do next to it for a lunchtime?

I saute it lightly surrounded by some oil beside a clove of garlic (spear the garlic on a fork, and use that to saute, throw out when done), add some daintily sliced of onion and red pepper when its half done - incorporate a dash of saline, thyme, and pepper, and toasted sunflower seeds, after have it next to a hunk of ciabatta bread

sometimes for the kids (whose father is dutch) i make them a pot of mash potatoes with carrot and chopped kale. i cut and "devein" the kale, and slice the carrots and boil them near the potatoes. then i mix surrounded by butter, nutmeg and tad of milk and mash the lot. it's such a great dutch comfort food!
You can steam it and put melted butter or cheese on it. Or put rare clean fresh kale within salads.
it's good contained by sandwiches. I prefer putting it within omelettes! Get the Book at the Library.. Cooking with Greens! The right one have a picture of kale on the cover! U just might find a book Cooking next to Kale. I food one Cooking with Broccoli but that one doesn't mention kale. But why not put kale surrounded by a Broccoli dish instead of Broccoli?
it is wonderful within a soup it adds a drastically peppery ...zesty flavor


you can cook it as a seperate green by steaming or boiling with some ham hocks for flavor it is terribly yummy and good for you...
I use it in the Italian style soup next to potatoes, onions, garlic, Italian sausage, bacon bits, heavy cream, and chicken broth. Just chop up some kale and right formerly the soup is ready put it within.
I also saute it with garlic, a bit of brackish, quite simple.
I make a Delicious Salad near it.
There are lots of things you can do beside Kale!

Try these recipes:

Kale and Bean Soup recipe
1 tablespoon olive or canola grease
6 to 8 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
1 large onion, chopped
4 cups kale, chopped if fresh (you can use 2 or 3 packages
frozen or 2 to 3 cans)
4 cups chicken or veggie broth
2 (15 ounce) can white beans, any kind
1 can stewed tomatoes or chopped fresh tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon rosemary
Salt and pepper to morsel
1 cup chopped parsley

In a large pot, steam olive oil afterwards add garlic and onion. Sauté until soft. Add kale and sauté until wilted. Add 3 cups of the broth, 2 cups of beans, tomatoes, herb, salt and pepper. Simmer 5 to 10 minutes.

Use a blender, or what hold you, to mix the remaining beans and broth until smooth. I bet you're asking why. It's to thicken the soup. Mix into soup. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

Serve it up in bowls and dress near parsley.

Sesame Kale recipe
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound kale (about bunch)
2 teaspoons sesame seed grease
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons toasted sesame seed
Salt and pepper if desired

Mince the garlic cloves. Wash the kale and shake it over the sink. It should remain a little drizzly. Remove and discard the stems from the kale and tear it into bite-size pieces. Save the stems for another use, such as vegetable stock.

Heat the sesame pip oil contained by the skillet over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic to the hot grease and sauté for about 20 second. Add the kale and water to the garlic and grease, and cover the skillet.

After 1 minute, stir the kale, then re-cover. After 1-2 more minutes, when the kale is wilted, stir within the soy sauce and sesame seeds. If desired, tag on salt and/or pepper to taster.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Steamed Kale

1 bunch (about 1 pound) kale
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce
2 to 3 garlic cloves, minced


Wash the kale, remove the stems, and chop the leaves into 1/2-inch-wide strips. Heat the hose down and soy sauce in a colossal pot or skillet and add the garlic. Cook 30 second, then supply the greens, toss to mix, cover, and cook over medium-low heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Add wet, 1 tablespoon at a time, if necessary to hold the greens from sticking.
