You own to go to the right chinese restaurant, not adjectives of them serve tofu or serve it right. I had this one tofu dish at my favorite chinese place and it be like fried tofu next to vegetables over rice. It had some liberal of teriyaki sauce or something - it wasn't the usual gross way that some chinese restuarants serve tofu - it's sooo honourable. What I always do is ask them for something explicitly custom ordered that suits me. Like the mixed vegetables with cashews instead of the chicken cashew.

Chances are the waiters enjoy served enough food to know what's within there, what's popular, and what to recommend. If they don't know satisfactory English and you don't know enough or any Chinese, ask them if they could acquire another waiter to explain to you what's in the food or lunchtime you're interested in, there's other an Asian-American working at one of these places. =).
If you ever get tofu (which within most dishes I don't like), don't be afraid of it! There's really no such thing as mortal undercooked for it because bean curd (the english translation of the mandarin word "dou-fu"/tofu, dou = bean, fu = curd/curdy substance) comes in packages already made. It's supposed to be soft and rippable on the inside (sometimes outside depending whether or not the dish is made near soft, regular, or firm tofu).
I own been a lacto-vegetarian sence I was 9 and very soon I'm 25 so I can tell you anything you requirement to know on that. Your best and my favorite would be bean curd and vegtables.Its fried tofu with vegetables and a brown sauce.take rice on the side a crispy spring roll and your good to run!
Get anything that have a picture of the Buddha next to it or say "Buddha's". Those items are vegetarian.

any decent restaurant will do tofu,its fried and seasoned soya beancurd and is truly gorgeous too.that is to say generally the lacto-vegetarian staple in a chinese restaurant.lacto-vegetarian spring rolls may also be found i think, these are crisp and wide fried cylindrical pastries filled beside vegetables. often, green vegetables anmd carrot are available. also they eat fruit, especially lychees.You can also try yasai gyoza, or yasai cha han. yasai cha han is a concoction of veg next to rice and its easy. gyoza are little dumplings full of seaweed and onion..lovely
