I recently found out where on earth rennet comes from (ugh!) and wanted to know if the cheese surrounded by the Safeway pizza is made with animal rennet. I thought someone here might know, otherwise I will basically check the ingredients next time I progress to Safeway.

I'm pretty sure it's animal-derived. Safeway is not vegetarian-friendly. Even its "vegetarian" products contain hidden animal ingredients close to rennet or gelatin.
It is probably animal rennet but you can write to them on their site and ask them.
General rule of thumb: if it does not enunciate Vegan; then isn't.
it's mostly non-vegetarian friendly, i work at a pizza place, we use cheap cheese.,
