Look for weeee little holes in the daypack.
That's how they be getting in the shoulder bag - burrowing throught the sack to get to the loot. They're similar to pile worms on sunken boats in Davey Jones' Locker.
Also, they could be stowaways hiding within the bag from the packing plant. 50 lashes for the stowaways and nurture them to the sharks! Arrrrr!
