How long will water stay within freezer? Have heard to put a few drops of iodine contained by water? This is hose to cook with and drink. THANKS

I think your belief of keeping them in the freezer is just right. Of course the freezer will go out but that isn't going to issue as to the water. I reckon water that have been stored as soft for a while will start to taste desperate and notice I said TASTE not that it will be fruitless for you I just imagine the taste get "off", so if you have it going from frozen to soft it will taste better. but to be precise just my feelings.

When I lived surrounded by south-eastern VA we had pretty a few gallons (and a couple of the bigger size) in our laundry room. We never have a problem with them going discouraging. I've never heard of initial up the containers to put iodine in them...I'd donate them sealed shut within the original containers. My mom used gallon river to brew coffee in the mornings, so they be used and new be put in it's place.
We be never thirsty when our power was out for days. =)

It's true that "water doesn't spoil" but if you maintain it in cheap plastic jug (the soft, white kind) over time the chemicals in the plastic will leach out into the sea, especially in heat conditions. It tastes unpromising and the chemicals aren't good for you. You can buy 'nonreactive' thorny plastaic water jug that don't break down chemically (they're way more durable too) but it would expensive to buy adequate for a hurricane.
Instead, emergency management organization recommend freezing water, contained by square or rectangular heavy Tupperware. That path more of it fits together without frivolous space (as opposed to round jugs) and when the hurricane's in the order of to hit you don't have to run out and buy rime. You can just use your wet supplies for keeping things cold and these larger blocks will keep cold MUCH longer than rime cubes in a pouch. After they melt, drink them up! An added bonus is if no hurricane comes, this hose down will still taste fresh whereas the stuff contained by the jugs you probably wouldn't want.
CAUTION: it take a LOT longer to freeze a solid container of water (as opposing cubes) than you think. Don't lurk til there's a storm in the forecast or you won't enjoy time before the power go out. Begin doing this (one Tupperware a day) at the start of the hurricane season.
People put bleach (not iodine) in hit water AFTER a storm to craft it safe. (Google 'using bleach to purify water' for instructions on exactly how to do this.) If you own adequate marine stored up beforehand, you don't have to verbs about this, it's for making running sea safe if that's adjectives you have to use.
