I like to cut the lettuce into and after chop it. Soak in rime water and delight in. But it doesn't keep thoroughly long. They say it should be torn within to. But i don't like it that route, I like it shredded?
So is it true that it make a difference weather it is torn or shredded with a stick?

Yes, it is true. The less you button lettuce the longer it will last. As soon as you put river on lettuce a process called oxidation begin. That's why you see brown "rust" spots on the lettuce.
Keep the lettuce in an air-tight container (or plastic bag) and use individual what you'll need for that hours of daylight or that meal. Store the rest contained by the crisper, untouched and unwashed.

The metal within the knife cause the lettuce to turn brown more quickly. I cannot communicate you exactly what it is, but I know that it is the metal. If you tear it up by mitt it does take longer, but it will closing you much longer as well. Sorry I cannot transmit you exactly what metal it is.
yeah it will stay good longer if its kept complete i worked at wendys and the chopped lettuce was merely good for a year in the bearing in afterwards it was thrown out
It will finishing even longer if you don't use a metal knife,you can draw from lettuce knives that are plastic,the metal make them go brown.Took 20yrs to find that out.

You can use a plastic run through (there are some specifically made for lettuce)to shred it, and it will stay fresh longer than if you use a metal knife (somehow the metal react with the minerals contained by the lettuce and causes it to brown faster). For the longest enduring lettuce do not remove the core and do not store the lettuce in a plastic pouch. A lettuce keeper is a plastic bowl beside an insert that has a point on it. The lettuce core is pushed onto the point, and none of the leaves are touching the plastic bowl.
It will concluding longer if it is ripped as the cell will part where on earth they are weakest whilst when you cut them they break open.
Peel the amount of leaves you want to use and soak them, and at the ending minute shred.
I think it does hold something to do with the metal of the cut, in which defence you could always use a plastic spear! Personally I find ripping the lettuce apart with my unprotected hands rich ^-^ grrrrr!
Or you could always of late cut what you need at the time instead of shredding it adjectives in finance, or buy smaller lettuces!
