thermodynamics, or what's know as 'heat-transfer' always dictates an entity inside a 'system' will move towards equalibrium
Because everything is going to come to the temperature around it minus a consistent way for it to verbs it's heat or it's cold state.
scensory misleading. Basically, you're expecting hot coffee to' be hot or thaw, so when it is cold, it's very cold. vice versa for rime coffee.
It depends on the temperature of the room... similar to the cold would get thaw to be like the room's warmth as well as the hot.. it cools down to accomplish the same warmth of the room
Well it is because heat flows from a hot body to a cold body, a hot cup of coffee is hot wrt its sorroundings and thus warmth flows from the cup to the sorroundings ans thus it gets cold, and similarly within cold coffee the heat from sorroundings enter the coffee to make it hot.

If you set out two cups of coffee, one immensely hot, and one very cold, contained by time they will both be room temperature.
Actually james L give you the best answer however all the other literalists are correct.
It have to do with the ambient heat or in this crust your room temperature. Hot coffee at room warmth will eventually get cooler as it near the room temperature. The same go with iced coffee will rise surrounded by temperature as it is cooler than the room heat in the inauguration as it reaches the room warmth.
Well, if you left hot coffee on the table for a long extent of time, it is going to get cold, don't you consider? And ice coffee
will gain warm after you donate ice to it, don't you deliberate?
Now, that was a stupid interview!
Because the tempertaure eventually equlizes.
