A Question on 2-liter soda bottles..?

Back in the 1980s, 2 liter soda bottles have some sort of plastic covering on the bottom. It has since be removed for a while now. Is within any specific reason why it be removed?

Answers:
Certainly to cut back on materials which is not single good for the environment but cuts wager on on their cost. Also it was a simply design update, the bottom of the bottles be changed so that they could stand on their own. companies are always trying to unflawed on design.
They redesigned the bottom of the bottles so that the extra plastic was no longer needed. It be a "green" move to help cut down on resources.
wow, i forgot more or less those..but it was probably removed because it be a waste of plastic
set free mnoey i guess
It was in attendance for added strength
plastic back later were to some extent weak
so presently that the plastics are stronger we do not need the added support
In the untimely days of blown-plastic bottle technology, the bottoms were round to insure release from the molds. This worked, but made a bottle that wouldn't sit adjectives on its own.

The plastic cup fixed that.

Now, the dimples on the bottom of the bottle act as 'feet' and voila! A cost and time funds!

Best wishes!
Even though plastic is super cheap to manufacture, probably basically to save money. I remember those. It be sort of like a cup to set the bottle within. Isn't it funny how a 2 liter costs around a $1.20 and so does a single serving of soda (20 ounce). Less plastic, same price.
I don't know the answer for sure.. But I can guess! :) I am thinking that when they first designed the bottles, they put that on the bottom to make it harder and smaller amount resistant to breakage. Over the years, they were probably competent to develop a way to product the bottles with stronger bottoms lacking needing that quantity on the bottom.

That's my guess.. Just simply updated their manufacturing to no longer require the extra piece of plastic.
Why does it thing, its not 1980 anymore.
