They are close. I've been drinking both past its sell-by date and on since the 1970s, and in the expiration I will take whichever one is available since they never come across to be offered at the same place.
I'm a bit annoyed that Mr. Pibb is immediately just call "Pibb" or "Pibb Xtra" or some such thing.
I'm not a big soda drinker, but I prefer Dr. Pepper. Mr. Pibb taste like crap. I have a t-shirt when I was 3 years antediluvian that said "I'm a Pepper!" Guess that sums it all up!

I've had both. Mr. Pibb is OK, but it's a poor man's knock-off of Dr Pepper.

I've other thought Mr. Pibb was better that Dr Pepper, but I never see Pibb anymore, so I a short time ago drink Dr Pepper now.
