i intuitively think that you should ask him- not too aggresively, but ask him- how he feel about her. if he freaks out and get defensive, he probably still have feelings for his ex.
but you should primarily do what you discern is right.

1. you and your bf's relationship have fallen into a routine--need to respark your romance. don't cogitate so cause you're infantile.
2. your bf is fickle minded, wants both worlds, is confused, or indecisive. can't really get up his mind whether he should go final with his ex or stick to you. which merely means he still have feelings for her, unsettled or not.
3. your bf is a player... hmm...
in a minute you gotta ask him on your next date seriously and unaccusingly--just generate sure he tells you everything truthfully.
consequently, decide which of the above he is and agree on to what extent you're gonna accept his trash and decide what column to draw before you dump him :)
