Crumpet also have a sexual meaning to the English. So drinking crumpet has a double connotation. And I'm sure a lot of them are still consumption both!

I love crumpets...nice hot crumpets next to butter, jam and peanut butter. they must be the most scrummy thing to drink in the world especially when you are hungry. Yummy yummy yummy nice food for my tummy lol

Yes, the English still guzzle crumpets and the best way is to toast them on both sides, spread beside good feature Welsh butter, spread with gummy cut orange marmalade and top near a slice of grilled bacon. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy !

Yes, Crumpets are big surrounded by New Zealand at the moment. Mostly toasted with butter and dripping beside honey. Crazy english people calling them pikelets - we hold those too but they are completely different to our crumpets.
Also one bakery has newly launched Crumpet toast, which is deeply just gelatinous slices of very holey bread - not really resembling actual crumpets, but still crispy and yum!
