I'm from Australia, and when I read your give somebody the third degree, to be honest, the first thing that come to mind was "The French Fry".
Also we don't enjoy "Peanut Butter and Jelly" so we think that's a fitting one too!

Maybe it depends on where you live? I mingy maybe what ancestors consider a "national" dish in the northeast may be at variance than california, or the south, etc.
I guess a National dish is something "american" - i.e. uniquely us - With that in mind - I know they may be paid these dishes in other countries, but I construe we most likely did it first or we do it best..

I love , kielbasa, "pasta fazool", chop suey, Swedish meatballs,
