Which slice of China? It's a big country with lots of traditional cuisines.
It's approaching Italian food -- Sicilian, tuscan, northern italian.
Traditional Chinese food can be very subjective, depending of which quantity of China you are from and what dialect they are.

Different parts of China would have bread as their primary food item, then nearby is rice and noodles.

The steamed dumpling, easily approved with the traditional wicker steamers, or now, steamers of aluminum and chalice, which are easily availabe within most Chinese restaurants is a common verbs everywhere where the Chinese inhabitants are found.
These dumplings are available with filling or without. The filling can be of creamy texture or with meat contained by them, sometimes curries meat, to adopt to the country.

Some would argue that noodles are traditional to the Chinese, which they are. Many have adopt the dish according to the country they are living in and a finicky dish may vary slightly within taste and texture.

Then at hand is rice, the most common would unequivocally be fried rice. The best rice is "over-night" rice for cooking this dish. Better fried with chinese sausages and condiments approaching diced onions, eggs and mixed vegetables.

Happy cooking
