Although you can find more precise instructions doing a Google search on the pattern for " Chapatis " or "Roti", here are some basics..

I am assuming you intended Keralite, or Indian friends and Chapati made fom whole wheat flour. If you live within North America, you can purchase whole wheat flour from Walmart, Kroger's etc. Then mix some marine ( salt/veg. oil for softness optional) to a portion of flour and knead it so as to product a tight dough ( not too wet, something you can roll into a firm bubble with your hand without sticking ).

Take a Rolling pin and flat out some dough resembling a wheat tortilla and toss it onto the pan for roasting. Keep it turning occassionally to prevent burning. No extra grease required. Done right, it'll fluff-up. Even otherwise, it is a wholesome, full of complex carbohydrates, nourishing, lean, filling food eat with prepared vegetables, meat or you can simply wrap it around anything you want. You can even top it off beside butter for taste. As a product, full wheat tortillas come closest to a "Chapati".
---I dont know why people call for it a "Bread" , coz its not leavened, i.e fermented with yeast.
