Well, since Im Chinese, i no that most chinese food here surrounded by the US is nothing close to real Chinese food. If you know anybody that lived within China or an adult thats Chinese, ask them. Usually Chinese adults still cook Chinese food.
Try the rummage through engines... Try Wikipedia, type in "Chinese Food" and it would explain more than you entail, leading you to external links which I own found helpful too. I am Chinese and I enjoy learnt profusely of things i do not know from here too.
I'm chinese and I know my overseas teacher hate the stinky tofu most, you can give it a shot!
Each region surrounded by China has different regional foods. It's a really, really, really big country. Try looking up the provinces.
