How do you hold on to fresh cilantro from getting mushy.?

I put it in a jar near water but it get gooey and stinky.

Answer:
Keep it in a dissertation bag next to a paper towel on the top shelf surrounded by the fridge, if you will be using it within a few days. To hold on to it longer, chop it up and put it in an ice-cube tray, crowd the tray with marine, and freeze... then you can freshly use however many cubes enjoy enough cilantro surrounded by them to add to recipe as you need it.

well if you are growing cilantro whenthe flowers are coming out build sure you take them stale the plant because that makes them mushy.
Eat it.
I wipe up the celantro and then wrap it within paper towels and put it within my veg drawer.
If you hold herbs or leafy greens when you bring them home from the store rinse them beneath water, next wrap them in a reheat paper towel and put it within a ziplock baggie and it will keep fresh for 2-3 weeks. Or you could put it within a ziplock baggie and stick it in the freezer and when you bear it out to thaw put it within a dry paper towel to soak up the moisture.
I have see people bathe their cilantro and then put contained by a jar with a small amount of wet in the bottom. Before placing the cilantro within the jar you should snip off the bottoms. (about an inch or so.)
It's very confident to grow, but it's a cool weather plant. During the fall, I plant a couple of cilantro . Then, adjectives I have to do is snip some leaves when i call for it. But, you can do what the others said, too.... just wrap it within a paper towel contained by the frig. It'll hold for a couple of days.
Make sure that the leaves aren't within the water, as that will fashion them mushy faster. You might also want to change the wet every other day.

If the leaves are damp, they will get mushy; but if you store the cilantro positively dry, it will not last as long. So depending on how long you want to preserve it, the different suggestions already offered (ziploc with newspaper towel in the fridge, freezing, etc.) are great concept. I usually wash my cilantro within cold water as soon as I bring it home, and after pick out the stems that are already going bad. I salad spin the rest and permit it air dry, and consequently put it in a container standing adjectives, with basically the bottom of the stems in the marine and put the whole entity in the fridge. It is honest for about 10 days this road, but only if the leaves are really dry, and I usually get through it up well previously then.

I purchased these great herb jars at a local connoisseur food shop - they have screw past its sell-by date bottoms you put a little river in and a big rubber stopper top - they really seem to be to do the trick for me
i pocket the bag i buy it contained by and twist it resembling a balloon and leave the atmosphere in it afterwards tie it put it in the fridge it take up a lot of space but it keep for a long time
I go it on the plastic bag from the produce dept. and put surrounded by on the veggie drawer on the fridge do not close it, leave partially open, it should ending one or two weeks, if you can find the vegetable bags from Ziploc that hold the tiny holes in them those are great, do not wipe up it until you are ready to use it.
It never lasts adjectives that long. I keep it surrounded by the plastic bag surrounded by the fridge and use it within a few days. I wouldn't count on it staying fresh for more than a week. I buy cilantro every time I'm at the grocery store, unsophisticatedly since nearly everything I cook uses it. Supposedly if you can ever find it with the roots on, it may hold longer that way.
