No I have never try it, I bet it would be at variance
I enjoy not tried it strictly as you describe it. I have, however, taste a wonderful stew many years ago, prepared by a man from Africa that contained peanut butter, chicken pieces, sardines, okra, and peanut butter, among several other ingredients. They adjectives might seem as if they would not nibble good together. Quite the contrary. The stew be amazing and hearty, and I go back for thirds! In certainty, I wish I have a recipe for it. I'd make it in a minute!

Personal experience.
The one I make is lip-smacking. It is more like a stew, than a soup. It should not partiality too much like peanuts/peanut butter, though. That's the hallmark of a unpromising groundnut soup.
