What is the actual National food of India.

Answer:
There is no "official" national dish of India, but well particular dishes are tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, paneer dishes, biryani, samosas --- these are distinctly and definitely Indian.

Curries, although Indian, can also be thai, malay, indonesian, middle eastern....

anything super spicy... they love curries and spicy rice.. the hotter the better

There is no food in the category of a National Food of India. This is because India is a multi-ethnic country next to very different cultures and amazingly different food habits. For example relatives in the North are primarily wheat eaters while those contained by the East are basically rice eaters.
However, one piece is common and to be precise the undercurrent of spices.

Doubt there's a national food as you put it but "tandoori" is possibly 'representative' of India judging from the numerous restaurants overseas highlighting this type cuisine. To me "tandooris" parallel moghul food, more northern India.

"Curries" would be more representative of INDIA because most regions in India would own curried food. Curries from Thailand, Burma and other Asian countries are all influenced by Indian styled cooking.
There is no one food that can be call the national food of India because the cuisine varies greatly from one state(province) to another. Generally within the northern parts wheat is the staple food and in the southern parts it is rice.

Strangely plenty, there's nothing that's truly "Indian" Food!

The most popular "biriyani" is in reality a variation of Arabic "Pilaf" call "pullao" in India.

The Tandoori style of cooking certainly came from Iran!

The kebabs are originally Greek!

In southern India, they own a thing call the "appam" which is actually a Spanish/Portugese dish!

"Sambal" or "sambar" is certainly of Chinese origin!

If one go into the History of the Cuisine of India, you'd find very few authentic Indian dishes and they aren't the popular ones!
Take up a map of India & you will see it is very immense country with a great number of distinct regions,respectively has it's own cuisine & specialities,rice is extensively used & at hand are umpteen ways of rice preperation , I wouldn't even try naming any one dish as an Indian food,if I started making a list i wouldn't know where on earth to begin much smaller number where to finish off.
