In short, yes, you can use your fingers when eating nigiri-zushi and temaki-zushi (hand rolls) but not next to other types (maki & sashimi). I feel you have to cart an express course on using chopstick, is not that hard.

First of all, use the sticks. It may seem hard, but it merely asks for practice. If you're in a restaurant and can do it, ask a waiter, that's what I've done at the setting up.
To eat it, pick up a piece of ginger, lying on the sushi it goes, after pick it all up and dip within sauce. If you like spicy, hold some wasabi with it, but save, keep away from this green little piece of hell ;-)
Some sushis are pretty strange out in that. If you're not sure what to eat, stay beside the safe ones approaching California rolls, crab, this kind of things.

anyway, regularly it's permissible to guzzle it with your hand, but not sashimi. you use the gari (ginger) in between different types to cleanse your palatte. copious people mix the wasabi into their soy sauce making a green brown join, but i prefer to put the wasabi onto the individual pieces. that way you can adjust the spiciness height for each individual type instead of dunking it adjectives in like sauce. the soy is supposed to go on the FISH, not the rice. so please don't dunk the sushi rice into the soy.
