I recently go to a Chinese/Indian restaurant just outside of Atlanta call Hot Wok. They served a "spiced water" with out meal. Does anyone know the proper name for this or even the recipe?
Answers:
This is an essence that is to say added to water such as rose petal,
jasmine, red blossom, honeysuckle... it perfumes the dampen
and adds a slightly sweetened tang. It's basically an older fashioned Indian mouthwash used by royalty centuries ago. It cleanses & refreshed the palate. There are frequent different combinations & variations depending on the personal nouns of the "royal".
Most often, rose essence be favored. It's called "gulab ki pani".

In south India, they do make a spiced hose by adding cumin to hose down. It is called Jeera river, jeera means cumin. I am unsure of the exact recipe though.
