What is Scottish fried bread/fried slice made from?

What is it fried in?
Lard?
Butter?
Pan drippings?

Answer:
It depends, if you've in recent times fried bacon or sausage, the bread would be fried in that and the nibble is much better than just using cooking oil. If just butter be used, the bread would be soggy, it should be brown and crispy (preferably with a fried egg on top!)
