Where did Satay Sauce derive from?

Looking to settle a dispute on the birth place of satay sauce.

Answer:
Indonesia, and it's easy to take home. Mix peanut butter, water, milk, sugar, soy sauce and something hot, close to Saambal Oolek; Cook it for just a little and it will thicken. You can adjust the amount of the ingredients as you go along until you obtain the right taste and concentration. There are other recipes but this is the easiest I very soon of, and it is good.

Satay sauce originate in East/Southeast Asia. It is a sauce base in peanut butter, coconut milk and other flavors. It is also a mundane fare on french fries in the Netherlands.

Here is a recipe:

/4 cup vegetable grease 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 onion, chopped
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground dried red chile peppers 3 kaffir lime leaves 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1 tablespoon chopped fresh lemongrass 1 cup coconut milk 1/2 cup milk
1 2-inch cinnamon stick 3 firth leaves 2 teaspoons tamarind paste
1 to 3 tablespoons fish sauce 3 tablespoons muddy brown sugar 3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup chunky peanut butter

Heat grease in skillet to medium-high grill and saute garlic, onion, chile peppers, kaffir lime leaves, curry powder and lemongrass for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir contained by coconut milk, milk, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, tamarind stick, fish sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice and peanut butter; mix all right. Reduce heat and cook, stirring frequently, until sauce thicken, about 30 minutes. Be amazingly careful sauce does not stick to bottom of container.
Hmmm.. within Singapore, the malays seems to be the one selling satay, i would assume the peanut gravy/satay sauce be discovered by the malays. Correct me if im wrong :) either method, i still love the sauce! :)
