An egg roll is non-vegetarian and is fried in a different wrapping. And a spring roll is lacto-vegetarian (shorter) and the outer layer is not fried but to some extent boiled and in most cases are transparent.

A spring roll is raw and cold, and an egg roll is hot and cooked...I reflect!

"An egg roll is made with a thicker wrapper that contains egg. As for filling, an egg roll can be filled beside everything from barbequed pork to chicken, with vegetables such as dampen chestnuts and bean sprouts added for texture. Soy sauce or savory oyster sauce are frequently included to provide a bit of extra flavor and prevent the egg roll from drying out during deep-frying."

An egg roll is one that goes surrounded by the right ear. The Spring roll goes surrounded by the left ear.

OK, Be serious.
Spring roll is literally translated from the Mandarin, - stuffing, either vegie or meat, wrapped up by wonton chips and deep-fried.
If Egg roll is literally translated subsidise to Mandarin, it becomes totally different staff. It taste like the fortune cookie, but much thinner, and wrapped resembling the shape of spring roll, but no stuffings!
