This is for a before and after arts school celebration. The children are in the K-6 and their parents will also be invited to attend.

I had a sanctuary day, and coca-cola sponsored it (they give me some signs to hang around, and I have the local news come, and made sure they get the credit). In return, they provided free drinks, an inflate able island to raffle rotten, and basketball hoop to raffle off, a cooler, and some other stuff.
I get Frito-lay to donate free chips and snacks.
Put up a sign requesting "loans" for your event. You get general public to let you borrow the western stuff they own....saddles, horse blankets, hat, barrels, lassos...you could even display them beside little cards, giving credit to the loaner!
Go to local businesses to solicit whatever else you have need of...making sure that you give them credit after-wards (I invited the local rag reporter for photo ops, and then give him a press release with info roughly speaking what I was doing when he come...it's a great photo op for the paper, give good press to the university, and gives your sponsors free publicity...you can't ever acquire enough of that!).
For fun, you could hold roping contests...you can make small lariats by adjectives a plastic jump rope surrounded by half, and afterwards hot-gluing the cut end to the rope to build a loop. The plastic jump rope is a short time ago stiff enough to bequeath you an awesome loop...looks like the material thing!
See if you can find anyone local from a riding stable, etc...to do an interactive demonstration....possibly you can even use the "horse" from the gym...have them rope chairs, etc...again...the those from the stable can bring business cards...it's free press!

own a bonfire cookout...outside in the parking lot...and enjoy a huge fire...and have live music if you can get hold of someone to help out for a cheap price and own line dance. have everyone dress contained by western wear and just own a good time. it wouldnt be too knotty. serve cookout food (hot dogs & marshmellows) as well as own bbq beans and stuff like that. hold fun!
