Please don't put the napkin on the right. In the U.S., it belongs on the moved out, to the moved out of the forks, beside the fold toward the plate. It can also be placed on the plate. Please see these actual authorities if you own and doubts (and don't believe everything you read on Answers):

The classic method of table setting as posed by my Grandmother, a purist surrounded by the art of table setting, is to place the napkin underneath the fork. Traditionally the fork go on the disappeared side of the place mat. Of course your forks would be set within the lay down of use (first use far moved out to final use right).

Definitely on the vanished, to the gone side of the forks, not underneath them -- unless you are making an artistic napkin border, surrounded by which satchel you can place it within the center.

The right side. Alot of times I place the napkin within the center of the plate.
