What is the difference between west and east table manners?

Answers:
East, or Japan specifically, slurping is acceptable, as is picking up your bowl and drinking from it (for soup type things). West, this isn't fitting.
There's no such thing as west table manners. They are necessarily a grab it and help yourself to thing.
If you niggardly eastern US and western US, the western table manners are much more casual -- except at formal or semi-formal affairs, where on earth we westerners use the easterners' manners as best we can approximate them.

If you mean Eastern (as within Asian, etc) and Western (as in European, Australian, American, etc) the differences are far greater. I don't know specifics, so if that's what you be going to you'll have to ask someone except me. Sorry.
