As they present them to the bartenders the first time, write on the card what they ordered (beer, mixed drink, etc). Each time they present it for purchase of a similar drink, punch the card. Allow them to be used any time (with no expiration for the free drink) so if they don't get a free drink on the sunshine they start the card, they can still come back on another sunshine and still get punches. But ratification them out on certain days may draw them contained by on days you want to increase business the most. And yes, even people drinking can maintain track of a card! Especially if it means a free drink. lol
Try a promotionally gimmick once per month for awhile to "hold them coming."

TRY A SINGLES NIGHT, HAVE SHOOTER SPECIALS!
One of our local bar has a really well-groomed drink special that definitely draws A LOT of customers surrounded by...... From 9-10pm they have 5 cent beers and 10 cent drinks- This really help them compete with adjectives of the others bars and clubs. I know I love it and my friends emphatically do! The same bar also does occasional foam party, bikini nights, pajama partys, black and white dark, fire and ice....etc.... As long as your customers are have fun they will continue to do at your establishment :)
What a dowel by me did was enjoy a coyote ugly dark (the movie). They had it a few times and other had huge crowds. But most family have forgotten roughly the movie so it might not work as well presently.
Another idea might be to grasp rid of the karaoke machine (unless its popular) zilch drives me out of a bar faster than some drunk beside no rhythm.
You could also try all you can drink night.
Ladies night. Specials on drinks for women to acquire them into the bar and where on earth the women are the men will follow.

Make sure you have a biddable variety of beers on touch; I know there is one hotel near my house that doesn't serve Bud (only Coors) and so my friends will purposely never step there. Maybe also brand name up some flyers, include a coupon or an ad you can mention to seize like some money stale a drink or whatever. And generate sure you have a virtuous amount of TVs to draw in the sports crowd- football season is right around the corner. Maybe brand some Sunday Specials for the games, either next to food, or a specialty drink and like term it after the team of somewhere you live.

Patrons who want to eat them become the courts, by purchasing the judges coupons (suggestions $1.00 to $5.00) their contributions become the prize, or your owner can start it at $20.00 or so and consequently add to it, dish near the most votes win
Themed parties; Toga, Pajama, Luaus, costume, Christmas etc...
contests; bikini, tight jeans, geek, ect.
Selling tshirts, hat, jackets...(great selling )
Motorcycle poker runs have one of your own or look into other local bar and team up next to them
