The best home made burgers are Jamie Olivers Botham Burgers:

BOTHAM BURGER

Makes 4 Botham burgers

Ingredients
1kg/2lb 3oz minced beef, preferably natural
2 medium red onions, finely chopped
2 eggs
1-2 handfuls of fresh breadcrumbs
1 tbsp coriander seed, crushed
1 small pinch of cumin seeds, crushed
1 heap tsp of Dijon mustard
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
Preheat oven to 230c/450f/Gas 8
1 Mix and scrunch adjectives the ingredients together. Use the breadcrumbs as required to bind and lighten the mixture.
2 Divide into four, afterwards gently and delicately mould and pack each burger together into smallish cricket ball-sized shapes.
3 Place surrounded by the oven and roast for 25 minutes, which should leave the middle slightly pink and the outsides nice and crispy.
4 Serve near a griddled bun, a little salad, some gherkins, tomato salsa, a pint of Guinness and a bottle of ketchup.

They're scrummy and easy to gross. Enjoy!
You can use what you want in it, you will inevitability an egg mixed in or some grease to hold the burger together, some breadcrumbs mixed in will hold it as economically, add some spices etc and bobs your uncle
cook the mince meat until brown and any flavouring u want to tag on to them and then grab hold of bits of the mince meat and squash them into the size of beef burgers and that is how it is done!
Don`t cook the mince first it won`t hold as okay. Add what you want apple would be yummy but needs to be small pieces. Cheese works resourcefully to. ENJOY
Start with 500grms (eg) mince beef, give an egg, finely chopped onion and enough breadcrumbs to relieve bind. From here Yes you can add apple, peanut butter, vegimite, herb , chuckney, etc... You can put tomatoes sauce bbq sauce or what ever takes your fancy. I gross the MEANEST hamburgers, always a moment or two different. Even my kids eat them!
I simply use onions and mix both together and take a drop and flatten to however bulk you desire then cook
sure you can I would cube the apples really small and also put in some fresh onion to it in small chunks. Then try broiling it instead of frying it
not loving the thought of apple and beef! works with duck and pork but beef hmm not going to be trying that any time soon!

for a prompt and easy but piquant burger, weigh your mince, get a third of the amount within weight of bread crumbs and matching again in milk

pour partly the milk over the bread crumbs leave to soak for 10 minutes pour stale any excess milk or add more until you return with a very gummy paste.

blitz a generous onion and add it to the mince, ( if you dont enjoy a food processor sweat the onions down a bit after a really fine dice )
season the meat well - no more - season it in good health ! add an egg - one per 500g of mix a well-mannered couple of tablespoons of tomato ketchup

cover with cling show rest in fridge for an hour if you can - shape into patty cover in cling picture refrigerate until needed

cook in a hot tub from cold - make sure they are cooked through - no pink meat surrounded by burgers unless you just ground the beef for a correct source yourself.
Apple would be a great addition if you have minced pork, finely diced and mixed in. Don't expect it would really go next to beef.

You could try simply shaping the mince between the palms of your hands and putting it into the vessel with no additions at adjectives.

My Mum used to add onion, an egg, grated potato and mixed herb. I have replaced the breadcrumbs used within some recipes near cooked couscous and added garlic for extra flavour.
