Pierce them a few times with a fork so that the grease will drain rotten and the skins won't explode. (Be sure to have a squirt bottle in the vicinity to put out flareups, which you will definitely hold.)

I cook them over low heat, turning them recurrently and basting them with rather beer to keep them from drying out. During the later five minutes of cooking, I brush them with barbecue sauce, turning once after applying the sauce. Be wary because it's easy to own flareups or to burn the sugar in the sauce.

I use Sweet Baby Ray's brand sauce, which is the best! While I'm grilling the brats, I usually cook a few slices of onion wrapped within foil, too. It's hard to hammer the combination of grilled onion and barbecued brats!
boil them on the stove first, more or less 10 minutes until they are fully cooked. then put them on the grill, to furnish them the brown smokiness and the crisp outside
I use those throw-away aluminum pans, put one on the grill, put surrounded by some beer, onion slices, crushed garlic cloves and brats. Simmer on a medium-hot grill for about 30 minutes or so, rolling them around occasionally. Take brats out of beer and place on grill...grill for 15 minutes, turning them once. Done! man are these biddable this way!
Esmerelda is right on ,,,,,,,,,,, the simmer contained by beer is the secret !!

First of adjectives brats are generally cooked when you buy them. You put them on a grill to steam them and put some lines on them. Don't have the grill to hot. You want to be sure they are warm through but not quickly charred. They repeatedly split when heated on a grill. That is okay. They are great served hot off the grill. I lived surrounded by Germany for two years and often bought brats from street vendor grilling them. They were served near hot (spicy) mustard or sauerkraut and a piece of bread to hold the brat and dip in the mustard.
I resembling to slit mine and grill til crunchy...Thanks for 2.
Simmer in beer and sea, also add a cut up onion and a glove of garlic. Boil for more or less 10 minutes then put on the grill. It is key to be drinking cold beer throughout the process. When done use the onions and some grilled bell pepper. I like potato rolls beside a little mustard. Oh, and a cold beer.
