Answer:
You can make it right within the oven. Bring the milk to just below boiling, donate your culture or starter, and put in an ovenproof container. (canning jar work great, you can see the consistancy better). Put in an oven turned basically to "warm" for 6 to 8 hours. Best to set the jars on a cookie sheet. Enjoy! I fashion homemade yogurt all of the time, next to milk fresh from my cow. Its lovely!
Homemade Yogurt
**Note: After you sort your first batch of homemade yogurt, you can use your homemade plain yogurt as the starter for adjectives batches.
8 servings 8 cups 15 min 5 min prep
1/2 gallon unbroken milk (can use lowfat or skim milk)
1/2 cup mahdzoon or yogurt starter (off the shelf of the supermarket plain yogurt will do as long as it contains "live cultures")
Bring milk to just a boil and later set aside to cool.
Cool just satisfactory not to bite the finger to touch, (about 120°F).
Pour warm milk within a glass or pyrex bowl and tag on the Mahdzoon starter (or store bought"live culture" plain yogurt).
Mix well by stirring the starter within, and cover.
Completely cover the bowl with towels top and bottom to state an even temperature.
Keep covered at room warmth until mahdzoon has set, give or take a few 3-4 hours.
Refrigerate for 8 hours before serving.
To store, preserve in refrigerator.
If you similar to, you can add a spoonful or two of fruit preserves/jam and a bit of vanilla back serving.
Boil the amount of milk that equals the amount of yogurt u want to finishing up with. Cool till lukewarm (out on counter, not contained by fridge) Add 1 tsp. of yogurt, mix well. Set aside, on counter, covered till u see curds. Then refrigerate. That's it!
This is how we do it:
I boil about a gallon of milk (it depends on how much you want to make) for roughly 30 minutes. I let it cool until it's thaw to the touch but not too hot if I leave my finger within the milk for more than 10 seconds.
I supply a HUGE spoon of yogurt (just buy some at the store) to each 1 qt container and plague it with milk, after stir.
I put these containers in a styrofoam cooler and spread the cooler with heat up water and head off it over night.
EASY!
