How can I produce a cherry topping for a cheesecake, I'm thinking of getting some fresh cherries?

and stemming them and pitting them, and splitting them in partly and adding them to a simple syrup until the juice turn the syrup red.

Do you think that will work.?

Answers:
Homemade Cherry Filling
4 cups cherries, rinsed, stemmed and pitted
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup lemon liquid
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Combine cherries, sugar and lemon juice contained by a mixing bowl, stir and let sit for at most minuscule 6 hours, stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar. Drain off and reserve cherry syrup.
Combine a small amount of syrup to cornstarch to manufacture a paste, after whisk cornstarch paste rear legs into syrup. Pour mixture into a saucepan and cook over medium grill, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Stir surrounded by the drained cherries and almond extract. Cool, and store in sterilized, airtight jar or freeze in solid freezer bags.
Makes roughly 5 cups.
I never really used cherrys for syrup before but if you guess that might not be the way to sort a cherry topping then try conceivably your local library under recipe they might have some information on how to build a cheescake with cherry toppings or look it up on the internet you might find some tips on toppings!
