half a leg of lamb,or does it necessitate defrosting?
Answers:
I hold cooked(roasted) many legs of frozen lamb, and thoroughly nice they are too.I have other defrosted them first. It would not crop up to me to cook it frozen. To cook from frozen would possibly be a health risk as parts could be rare and prone to bacteria I would imagine. To defrost I would put the leg, unwrapped in a tray or dish surrounded by my microwave oven(did not switch it on) overnight and the next morning would rinse underneath a cold tap,dry next to a kitchen towel, place in a roasting tin, sprinkle next to oil and add on rosemary .Place in a preheated oven on a middle shelf and cook at a illustrious setting for about 20 minutes,Turn the bake down to about Gas 5 or 6 for the remainder of the time.(The freight of the joint would determine the total cooking time and how in good health done you like it).
No defrost if first
Yep.Karla's right. Defrost it first.
logically you can cook a leg of lamb from the freezer just defrost it back cooking!
It's better to defrost first but rule of thumb is :- If the animal had two legs,no but if it have four then you can...
Always defrost the meat previously you cook it or it will cook unevenly.
Dear god woman.. defrost that lamb!!
In my humble belief, my Mum cooked the best leg of lamb and she ALWAYS defrosted it first.
However, on one appealing occasion we cultured that the dog neither cared if it be completely defrosted or cooked.
PS Don't forget the Rosemary
No!! - Silly s*d - it desires to be thoroughly defrosted first - if you be thinking of roast lamb for lunch today - forget it - get something else and bestow lamb to defrost thoroughly today and cook it tomorrow.
Defrost it first (at room temperature not surrounded by the microwave) and it will be much more tender than lamb cooked from frozen.
Always defrost first.
iwouldnt advise it...
No, you should defrost it thoroughly first unless you enjoy got one of those special joint from Iceland that you CAN cook from frozen but they take twice as long to cook
You can cook it from frozen but it will not cook evenly. The outer layer will be way over done beforehand the core is ready. As everyone else said you really should defrost it 1st, but hey is your lamb and you do what you want you will not hurt anyone as long as the center reach temp.
