I involve a cookie expert?

I need a recipe for butter cookies. I've tried several, but they don't enjoy that good outdated fashion buttery soft spot like I remember. They be kind of bland. Can you abet? :-)

Butter Cookies

3 sticks (12 oz.) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1-1/4 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon brackish
1 extra large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups cake flour
3 Tablespoons integral milk, for wash

PREPARATION:
With an electric mixer on slow speed, cream the butter, sugar and brackish together.

Slowly add the egg and vanilla, continuing to hit on slow speed.

Add the flour all at once and mix, scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl once.

Turn the dough out onto a piece of plastic wrap and pat into a 1/2-inch rectangle. Cover completely with the wrap and place contained by the refrigerator for about 1 hour, or until firm.

Preheat oven to 357°F. Line cookie sheets next to parchment paper.

On a delicately floured surface, roll out the dough until 1/4-inch thick. Using a 2-inch diameter, fluted round cookie cutter, cut out the cookies and place 1-inch apart on prepared sheets. Gather up the waste and refrigerate until firm enough to roll out again.

Brush the cookies beside some of the milk and bake for 10-15 minutes until a lantern golden color. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Storage:
Makes almost 40 cookies. May be stored in an airtight container for a few days

using legitimate butter would be a start

my Aunt Mary made the best butter cookies very fluffy

if you switch your spice to vanila extract it could be a upright thing
Butter cookie
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup BUTTER
3 oz cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla( or you can use almond flavoring)
3 cups flour
Combine everything but flour surrounded by a mixing bowl. Beat in prevailing conditions speed , scraping down the sides habitually. Beat until light and fluffy, affix flour and beat until mixed within well.
Divide dough into thirds and wrap respectively in plastic or wax tabloid and chill at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 375, Allow dough to verbs a few minutes, enough so you can roll it efficiently. Roll about 1/4 inch sticky and use cookie cutter, dipped in flour. Place surrounded by cookie sheet and bake 7 to 10 minutes, until edges are a drastically ligh brown. Remove and place on rack to cool. I use parchemnt paper on my cookie sheet to sort sure the cookie doesn't stick.
