German for: Mangel = Beet Wurzel = Root
Originally cultivated for livestock which is very polite for them.
Now the root is considered very flavourful and is boiled and mashed similar to a potato, adjectives in curries.
In Somerset we mash them
i would boil it and then roast it
Ooah oagh. Oi boils & mashes 'em me duck! Then oi mixes 'em wi a bit o' carrot & roasts 'em surrounded by the oven.

I would roast them in the oven near a drizzle of olive oil, garlic and thyme and serve them near wurzlesmurzles xxx
Otherwise set as turnips - throw them in a stew, failing that try putting them surrounded by the bin!
I thought it be mangelworzels? Boil and mash, possibly mixed next to carrots. Add to a stew, or roast close to parsnips.
