Go ahead and chop it and stick it in a ziploc purse to put in the freezer. Next time you own a need, only pour it right in!
By freezing it, you won't run the risk of other foods contained by your fridge absorbing the onion flavor (bad story about onion flavored shortbread from when i sit a ziplock bag next to onion on top of my box of butter.).
I do this beside entire bags of onions. Cuts down on prep time and tears!
contained by a fully sealed airtight container surrounded by the fridge
put it in a zip-lock pack
toss in the freezer within a ziploc bag- i will chop whatever veg. i don't use and freeze it- that instrument, when i need for a time bit later, it's primed to go (esp. since i am cooking for one or two...)
cuts prompt AND waste!
I outstandingly lightly spray the cut partly with cooking spray and toss into a ziplock daypack. The oil is neutral, and it keeps the cut side fresher longer, keep air out, and also help lock the onion fumes in!
wrap it surrounded by plastic wrap and put it in the fridge to hold on to it cold. make sure the plastic wrap is tight so no nouns gets inside. otherwise it will dry out.
keep hold of the skin of the oignon on then wrap it up near some food film or put it contained by a ziplock bag
My grandmother, mother, and I other wrap it up in a touch aluminum foil. Easy. Works. Keeps for about a week formerly it starts to dry out.
How long do you want to keep it? If you plan to use it as a fresh onion latter, store it in an nouns tight container. Ziplock sandwich bag next to air squeesed out or some other nouns tight container and put in the frig..
If you freeze it it will hold for greatly longer , however it will not keep its crisp fresh state. It will work great for cooking.
If your going to use the rest of it soon, resembling in a week or so time, I found it best that you could put it surrounded by a ziplock bag and put surrounded by the fridge. I don't know much about the freezer wreak I've never done that, but I hope that this helps you.
Coat the cut slice with soft butter or marge and wrap contained by a piece of kitchen paper towel. Store surrounded by the egg tray of the fridge.lol
