Here's a one ingredient chocolate chip cookie:
Pillsbury Cookie Dough.
Form into ball, place on cookie sheet, bake. Simple.
Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 teaspoon brackish
1 cup (2 sticks, 1/2 pound) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated [white] sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
COMBINE flour, baking soda and brackish in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla contained by large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, battering well after respectively addition; bit by bit beat surrounded by flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE contained by preheated 375-degree [Fahrenheit] oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
that would be five ingredients
Logically, surrounded by baking cookies there have to also be some form of shortening (butter, marg) and some flour, plus a leavening ingredient (baking powder) and salt. Trad choc chip cookies also gain their rich flavor from a combination of white and brown sugars, so you're talking give or take a few nine ingredients.
I have hear of applesauce being substituted for shortening surrounded by some recipes but not for these cookies...
I'll be interested to view and see if anyone knows a different mode to do these with smaller amount ingredients and still come up with something that works. In the meantime, check the final of the choc chip pack... the best recipe is there or try

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
This is such an assured chocolate chip cookie. No special equipment, no creaming--a perfect cookie to do near kids. We love how versatile this dough is, too. It make an awesome rocky road bar cookie.
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
3/4 cup congested dark brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
2 ample eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 (12-ounce) bag semisweet chocolate chips, or chunks
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon fine saline
Evenly position 2 racks in the middle of the oven and preheat to 375 degree F. (on convection setting if you have it.) Line 2 baking sheets next to parchment paper or silicone sheets. (If you simply have 1 baking sheet, permit it cool completely between batches.)
Put the butter surrounded by a microwave safe bowl, cover and microwave on atmosphere power until melted. (Alternatively de-ice in a small saucepan.) Cool slightly. Whisk the sugars, eggs, butter and vanilla within a large bowl until smooth.
Whisk the flour, baking soda and brackish in another bowl. Stir the dry ingredients into the damp ingredients with a wooden spoon; hold care not to over mix. Stir within the chocolate chips or chunks.
Scoop heaping tablespoons of the dough onto the prepared pan. Wet hands slightly and roll the dough into ball. Space the cookies about 2-inches apart on the pan. Bake, until golden, but still soft in the center, 12 to 16 minutes, depending on how chewy or crunchy you close to your cookies. Transfer hot cookies with a spatula to a rack to cool. Serve.
Store cookies within a tightly sealed container for up to 5 days.
For a Rocky Road Bar:
Lightly butter a 9 by 13-inch baking tub. Make the batter as per cookie recipe and fold in 1 cup chopped walnuts along beside the chocolate chips. Spread batter in prepared tub. Bake until the edges are light brown and the batter sets, in the order of 45 minutes. Cool slightly and cover surface with 4 cups marshmallows and 1 cup chocolate chips. Broil at least possible 8 inches from the heat until marshmallows turn golden brown, just about 2 minutes. (Keep an eye on the marshmallows, and turn the pan frequently--they run from golden to char in a wink.) Cool, cut and serve.
