I'll second that pale ale. Go much dark than that and you won't find many general public to drink it with you. And the ones who are inclined are probably pompous self riches "connoisseurs."

Depends on what you close to... my hubby has be "brew-crazy" for several years. He has made some really great beers, and some that we have to pour down the drain. He likes to try up to date and different beers, like ones using fruit, or conceivably ones that have different spices added.
