Whiskey is probably most likely made near a machine call
a "still".It is a condensing vaporizing gadget. That has a boiler on one side and a coolant on the other conjoined by
a long coiled tube ,usually copper. You can bring in whiskey
from many things, corn, sugar ect.But it is hugely dangerous
and you can take very sick if you are a neophyte.I believe
machines like this are officially recognized now a days.I know beer making
machines are..But you hold to keep buying the suppliers
ingredients.

It's Illegal,to craft whiskey at home.
In the USA it's still illegal to distill alcohol (wine and beer are not distilled). I forget his signature, but there's a senator (think that was his post) explicitly trying to get this imperative turned around to allow for home-use distillation. If you want to be legal, you own to get a distiller's license from your state (costs a LOT and not that comfortable to qualify for)
