Does alcohol truly hold a smell of its own, or is it the smell of the beer or spirit relatives refer to ?

Answers:
Yes, alcohol (ethanol) has a smell of its own. But beers and spirits contain other comonents that contribute to aroma as resourcefully as ethanol such as esters, higher alcohols and hydrocarbons. Because of its purity, vodka smells most close to pure alcohol.
Yes. It does.
Yes, ethanol has a strong smell which is fruity - impressively apple-y!
Yes it does. The best way to experiment the smell is to buy a bottle of plain rubbing alcohol from a pharmacy... Good luck.
Alcohol is in truth odorless. Other ingredients give it the odor. By the approach, I wouldn't experiment with rubbing alcohol. Totally different stuff. But to respectively his own.
