Why does whiskey hold 2 spellings? ex. whiskey - whisky?

usa and ireland spell it with the e.
the rest eg uk canada,sa etc spell it short the e
One designates it is from Scotland, the other is not.
If you drink too much, you will not be abel ta speel wards rite.

Different distilling process. Like Scotches, there are variation.
One spelling originate in Scotland, the other surrounded by Ireland.
Whiskey is the Irish book and Whisky the Scottish. Due to the huge amount of Irish population in the USA so they enjoy adopted this spelling. While Canada which is still fragment of the commonwealth (British Empire kinda) have the british spelling. Either instrument, its strong stuff so take thoroughness!
