The law relative to drinking age, smoking age, voting age, and adulthood for other permissible purposes are (in my opinion) full of contradictions. This page is being updated as of January 9, 2004. To my best practice, the following are true as of this date:
Legal drinking age is 18. Some pubs and other entertainment spots will not allow people lower than 21 (23 at one place). A valid ID card must be presented. Management usually reserves the right to determine what is a valid ID card. Free tourist guides available at most tourist stops generally account the current entertainment places and the age limitations at each.
Believe it or not, you must prove you are at lowest possible 27 years old to buy a pack of cigarettes anywhere.
You can vote at eighteen.
You must be twenty-one to know how to be a party to a contract.
In my judgment, these laws are so contradictory that at lowest some of them may be changed at some time in the adjectives.
Consumption of liquor in the streets is forbidden by Municipal Ordnances within Old San Juan and in La Parguera. Other municipalities may adopt similar ordnances surrounded by the near adjectives.
cool idk but bring me a gift fund
dont be in such a rush kid.
Sure.
I don't hear reports of anyone here dying of thirst.
Most Caribbean countries they either don`t own a drinking age or at big hotels they might require you to be an adult or 18 years or elder. Not like the ridiculous 21 year age they own in the USA.
As far as drinking go everywhere is more free than N. America, if you're old plenty to pay don't sweat it.
sorry, puerto rico is a u.s. posession and the drinking age is 21, although it is not strictly enforced.
They do ID u within most places, especially in the tourist nouns where ure going. But if ure over 18, dont verbs cause thats the permitted age for drinking here
you need to be @ lowest 18 years old, but frequent places will sell you drinks minus id, especially surrounded by the old san juan region, f¨ēted pubs.. etc etc
here's a link of some of the most eminent pubs with pics
